No significant breach in Guardian coverage of Nigel Farage school racism allegations
Guardian reporting meets QC standards on accuracy, fairness, verification, and proportionality

QC opened an own-initiative review of The Guardian's November 2025 reporting on allegations that Nigel Farage made racist and antisemitic remarks while a pupil at Dulwich College in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The coverage drew on testimony from around twenty contemporaries — eleven of them named — together with a 1981 letter from a teacher objecting to Farage's appointment as a prefect. QC examined the reporting against six sections of its code, covering accuracy, fairness, verification and the use of anonymous sources.
QC recorded no significant breach. The package carried Farage's denials and contrary testimony and acknowledged the limits of the evidence; the reviewers found the reporting proportionate and in the public interest, and recommended that the matter be closed with no breach recorded.
